Overview
We worked with Semi-Famous on this particle simulation project to create the 3D elements of a range of social advert campaigns for NIQ.
NIQ offers predictive data and trend insights to their clients. This specific campaign was to highlight the coming together of data to highlight future trends.
This project was made up of two main deliverables. The first deliverable were the main campaign assets, a range of 3D models of products that were built from particles.

Process
We used Cinema 4D to adapt purchased models of the chosen products that were to be represented in the campaign, we then textured the models to the desired look and feel. We used X Particles to fill the volume of the objects with particles and then animated the particles breaking away from the object. This motion was then reversed to get the end result of the particles building the object.
Because the particles were to be large, for example 30cm wide, we needed to ensure that the detail of the final object was still represented. To ensure this we used a special texture on the particles so that if the particles were moving it would generate a mask to cut out the final rendered image, then once the particles stopped in their final resting place, it appeared as the object.
This mask was based on movement data to mix the particles and the final object, which makes sure we don’t miss the fine detail of the object.
The final step was to add a camera move to add dimensions to the travelling particles.

We were then to create and deliver an After Effects project that would enable the client to input a 2D image of an object which was then broken into particles and re-built, to create a similar effect to the main campaign assets.

Delivery
This campaign was used on LinkedIn as well as Instagram. The client was also able to use the After Effect project that we created to make their own secondary ads.
